Does meditation heal me naturally?

Does anyone ever try continuous meditation for 3days? Yes I did. This kind of feeling is beyond descriptions for an urban dweller who are always busy with chaos and had not done meditation before. It is beyond words and you just have to experience yourself if you are new to it. You will know what I mean until you do it. The process of keeping your mind empty for 3 days without unnecessary thoughts was a challenge to me and eventually the benefits I reaped from this encountered was priceless and unforgettable. Although it had been for so many years after I joined a meditation camp in Phor Kark See Monastery, I am still anticipating them to run this activity again for I had gain tremendous benefits from it.

As I can remembered during the meditation camp, we had to woke up in the early 5am, finished our normal chanting ceremony as a Buddhist and had our vegetarian meal at 7am, which I think this place serves the best vegetarian meal. Even though I am not a vegetarian, I somehow loves the taste. After the meal, we will walk to the mediation hall mindfully without unnecessary thoughts, sights, speeches. In fact, we had to be mindful of everything we do during this meditation camp. We were not allowed to talk or make big movement unnecessary. The time is set for meditation by keeping us mindful and letting our natural arising thoughts come and go.

Once, I did experience the immense joy during meditation. I must tell you that this joy was beyond the joy that we experience in this physical world. It is far more than that. After the 3 days meditations, I feel that my mind was discipline enough by not attaching feelings to the outside environment. My mind was peaceful and the outside world is full of distractions. Unfortunately, after the 3 days camp, I was once again revert back to the normal human lifestyle. Initially, I found the smell of nicely prepared fish meal stinky for the reason I had been vegetarian for 3 days and the taste buds changed. From that moment, I realized that how stinky the fish meal was, with that strong intolerable fishy smell. In addition, scientifically, medical researches had proven that taking higher percentage of meal with vegetables reaped much benefits to our health than a meal full of meat.

Meditation is a natural healing that I had experienced it to be positive to my health. For me, meditation helps me eradicate unnecessary thoughts in this problematic world. It brings me peace and distress from this mundane world. It has to be practiced regularly just like the monk who do it daily in their practices to sharpen their mind free of desires and be mindful in every thoughts and actions. If we can reach the stage of engaging things with our senses with no attach feelings like anger, jealously or envy, then our stages of meditation should have promoted to a higher level which free us from worries generated from our judgmental mind. By freeing ourselves form worries, we free ourselves from sickness when our soul is at peace. But now as a beginner, we just need the discipline to get us doing it frequently to enjoy the tranquility and joy that meditation has to offer.

Some benefits of meditation are:
It lowers oxygen intake.
It reduces respiratory rate.
It generate better blood flow and reduces the heart rate.
Improves exercise tolerance in heart patients.
Gives a deeper level of relaxation.
Beneficial for people with high blood pressure as it brings the B.P. to normal.
Lower anxiety attacks by lowering the levels of blood lactate.
Reducing muscle tension (any pain due to tension) and headaches.
Builds self-confidence.
Generates serotonin production which influences mood and behavior. Low Serotonin are associated with depression, obesity, insomnia and headaches.
Beneficial in chronic diseases like allergies , arthritis etc.
Assist in post-operative healing.
Enhances the immune system. Research shows that meditation increases activity of 'natural-killer cells', which kill bacteria and cancer cells.
In addition reduces activity of viruses and emotional distress.

Natural Remedy for Lungs Disorders

Among the causes of sickness, lung disorders range from usually minor infections , such as colds and flu, to chronic diseases, such as asthma. This affects our lungs and should be taken seriously. The followings are some of the more common lung disorder.

Bronchitis
The characteristics of this symptom of bronchitis are breathing difficulty, relentless cough, and production of thick mucus, or phlegm. Bronchities is an inflammation of the brochi, or branching tubes, that carry air to and from the lungs. Inadditon, this sickness may experience fever and a burning sensation in the chest. Acute bronchities, often a complication of a sever cold, flu or other infection of the upper respiratory tract, may require an antibiotic treatment, but it usually goes away in a week or two.

Chronic bronchitis is an extremely serious problem that develops when the bronchial tubes are irritated over a long period of time. Cigarette smoking is by far the most common cause, although exposure to air pollution and occupation dusts and chemicals may also be involved. Whatever the cause, the tubes become thickened, a mucus-producing cough is present almost all of the time, and air flow to the lungs is impaired. This creates an ideal breeding ground for infection and sets the stage for progressive lung damage.

Smoking is by far the leading cause of chronic respiratory disorders, including chronic bronchitis, emphysema and lung cancer. Emphysema is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD that develps over a period a years, often as a consequence of smoking or chronic bronchitis. As the disease worsens, the air sacs, or alveoli, lose their elasticity and become filled with stale air, leading to an increased shortness of breath and a distended, barrel-shaped chest.

Some useful ways to prevent our lungs from damage:
1. Make every effort to stop smoking if you are one.
2. Avoid second hand smoke and air pollutants.
3. Drinks at least six to eight glasses of water a day as it helps in thinning mucus.
4. Take antioxidants as it helps to protect delicate lung tissue form the cellular damage caused by free radicals, unstable molecures that are released when the body burns oxygen.
Vitamin A and C from fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly those in yellow, orange, and dark green can build and repair epithelial tissues, which line the lungs, brochi, and other parts of the respiratory system: the tissues act as a barrier against bacteria.
Vitamin E with omega-3 fatty acids helps to reduce inflammation. They can come from whole grains, vegetable oils, fortified cereals, poultry, seafood, and eggs. Salmon, sardines, and other oily fish ara all rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids.
Zinc is important for boosting immunity, especially against upper respiratory infections. It is found in many foods, especially lean meat, oysters, yogurt, and whole-grain products.

Natural Remedy From Ancient Indian Beauty Secrets

Tumeric is used in Indian food, but it is also used in beauty supplies in India and is rapidly being adopted in the United States and other places. Tumeric exfoliates dead skin to reveal a brighter complexion. It is usually mixed together with honey (one of nature's best moisturizers) for normal-to-dry skin. You can make your own complexion-beautifying cleanser at home. In a small bowl, combine 1 tsp. of honey with a pinch of tumeric powder (do not too much since it can stain the skin) and mix until it becomes a paste. Smooth over your face and let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse.

Indian women take mind-clearing strolls called a prana walk. This is part of the ancient Indian medical practice ayuveda, the common prescription for tiredness and brain fog.

They believe that walks in nature provide exposure to prana, which is the life force in tress, water and plants. Prana flows into the body and corrects any internal imbalances that hinder mental and physical wellbeing. Researchers from the University of Michigan discovered that walking among trees improves short-term memory and attention by 20 percent.

For stress relief, Indian massage called Champissage is used. It focuses on pressure points on the neck, face and shoulders. This massage increases the circulation and efficiency of the lymphatic systems, and helps to disperse damaging toxins. Trapped toxins dull the skin, lead to cellulite formation and weight gain and can dampen immunity and energy. To do this yourself, gently massage your scalp with your fingertips. Next, grab fistfuls of hair by the roots with knuckles close to your head. Turn your head from side to side, tugging your hair lightly. Also, place the heels of your palms on your temples and squeeze, making circular movements. You can also massage the back of your neck with one hand by squeezing the muscles going from top to bottom.

Now for the beautiful shiny thick hair, Indians use coconut-oil conditioner. Coconut contains lauric acid, a saturated fatty acid, which penetrates the hair shaft and bonds to proteins. It can help in healing damaged strands and can fortify locks against breakage. Coconut oil moisturizes the scalp, which wards off dandruff flakes. Massaging coconut oil into the scalp also stimulates the circulation of blood to the area, which helps hair to grown better.

We are lucky to have these Indian beauty secrets today.

Natural Remedy on Do Natural Home Remedies Really Work For Whitening Teeth and Are They Safe?

Since most people cannot afford to pay for the "rich and famous" smile, many choose the alternative which is over-the-counter products. Where there is a need, there are products. You see them multiplying on the store shelves each week, but if you are not in a position to buy a do-it-yourself product right now to whiten your own teeth there is something else you can try. That something else is trying a variety of natural remedies to whiten your teeth.

There are some people, movie stars included, who say they whiten their teeth the natural way and swear their teeth are just as white or get even whiter than the products that are bought in stores and much less expensive.

Remember the saying, "What goes around, comes around?" Well, many natural remedies for whitening teeth come from the "good ole days" when your grandparents and parents were growing up. The following are a few of those whitening remedies, but with a few modern twists to make them more effective. Try one at a time and determine whether it works for you before going on to the next suggested remedy. Also, pay attention if there are warnings associated with a remedy.

Salt is a good starting point - it's handy and cheap!

The common table salt is sodium chloride and bicarbonate of soda is also called baking soda. Check out the toothpaste section of your local discount store and you will notice many brands now contain baking soda as an ingredient for whitening teeth. Although baking soda is a natural ingredient, it is very abrasive. Sometimes individuals mistakenly believe that anything "natural" is safe and that simply is not true. If used incorrectly, even natural products can harm you, like baking soda. Since baking soda is abrasive and can help whiten teeth, if you brush too hard or too long you can wear away the enamel - not good!

Salt is good but sea salt is better at getting rid of tartar and plaque. Salt also kills the germs that cause bad breath which is an added benefit. The best way to use salt or sea salt is to sprinkle a little on your toothpaste before brushing then brush normally.

Fruits? Yes, but be careful with acidic products.

There are many natural products to choose from when whitening teeth. With these remedies, it is their acidic nature that helps whiten teeth by dissolving the stains that are on the enamel surface. Catherine Zeta-Jones, an actress, while being interviewed on a talk show, described how she uses strawberries that have been mashed to whiten her own teeth. Some claim brushing an orange peel on their teeth had the same effect.

CAUTION 1: If you use any acidic products to whiten your teeth, you must wait at least 20 minutes before you brush your teeth. The acid has the capability of dissolving the tooth enamel so if you brush your teeth too soon, you may be brushing the enamel off your teeth. If you wait the 20 minutes, the saliva in your mouth will neutralize the acidic effect making it safe to brush or floss.

Caution 2: Some people believe brushing your teeth with lemon juice can make them whiter. While this is true, you need to remember that lemon juice is very acidic and can actually dissolve the calcium in your teeth making them seem to look whiter. Now, you have lovely white teeth and a seriously bad problem. When the calcium is dissolved, the tooth structure is also gone. This is very, very, bad! Because the teeth are no longer strong, they are now susceptible to becoming decayed and, it gets worse, because they are not strong now your teeth can easily be broken or chipped.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Many are probably already familiar with the bleaching component of hydrogen peroxide especially when it comes to bleaching hair. Well, it can also be used to bleach teeth. If you check out many of the products on the store shelves, you will see hydrogen peroxide as an ingredient.

You can use hydrogen peroxide as a home remedy for whitening teeth, but you will also need to exercise some caution. When used dilute it with at least one part water to one part hydrogen peroxide.

Hydrogen peroxide is safe when safety measures are used like diluting it as stated above, swish it a few times then spit. Be careful you don't accidentally swallow it because over time, there are very serious health problems that could happen.

However, if the terrible taste doesn't bother you and you are very careful about using hydrogen peroxide safely, many people do claim to get good results from using it to whiten their teeth.
